Framed

Everything is framed, boxed, bagged and ready to go! I need to deliver everything to Lawrence Street tomorrow. My electric drill needed to be charged so that put me off my game yesterday. This morning after I got the boys off to school I drilled holes in my encaustic frames for hangers and we were in business! Now I only hope that we don't get a snow storm tomorrow or next Friday. Pray for good weather and lots of attendees!

Preparations

I have been getting ready for our Lawrence Street show. Everything needs to be ready and delivered on Saturday. My fellow artists--Karen Decarlo, Tari Kahrs, Mary McCarthy Anderson, Katherine Harra Miller, Pat McGraw, Yvonne Thigpen, Kristen Robinson and Barbara Markham are all excited to show our work. Last year only a few people that I invited came so I am hoping and praying for much more support.

New items

Things are looking up today. The sun is shining! That has gotten to be a very unusual event around here. I worked on a few paintings that needed some tweaking. I also photographed some paintings and listed them on etsy.

My boys have a friend over right now and they are playing video games in the basement, where my studio is. So I am now upstairs. The screaming can be a bit much to take!

Yucky week

I haven't been able to blog much this week. I had to have a yucky test yesterday. I was put under so yesterday I was pretty out of it. Today I am feeling a little better but not 100%. Hopefully by tomorrow it will be better.

The husband and kids are home this week during Winter Break. They went to a movie yesterday while I rested. Tomorrow is my beautification day. Yes it takes all day! Next week it will be time to frame, price and get everything ready for our show at Lawrence Street.

John Mayer

The husband and I went to a John Mayer concert last night. John has been in the news a lot because he spewed out the n word and said some not so nice things about his ex's in an article for Playboy. He seems rather ashamed of it now. He has several black musicians and singers in his band. What was he thinking? Anyways, he is a terrific singer and puts on a good show.

When did it become the norm for people to stand through an entire concert? I payed good money for my seat and I am going to use it. It used to be that people would stand a little while and then sit down. Our seats were on the aisle so I could see fairly well. I kept wishing that the very tall man across the aisle would sit down then I could see all of the band members. The view of the shoes was interesting. I saw a lot women in high heels struggling to get up the stairs. A few had to be helped because you put lots of alcohol together with teetery shoes and you have trouble!

Snow Day

The boys and husband had a snow day today. The boys actually went outside and played in the snow. It was great to see! I was not feeling too ambitious and didn't accomplish much. I did go to the orthodontist and I am officially braces free! I got braces as a 40-something. I went for the invisalign so I wouldn't look too geeky! My teeth still hurt when they were moving but now I have straight teeth! The saying no pain no gain definitely applies to when you have braces.

Etsy account

I added the etsy sidebar with my blog. Thank you Tari for your help! I tried it on my own but got stuck. Time to add more items. Take more photos. More later...

Etsy

I am officially an etsy seller! I have been researching this for a month to try and figure this out. I only have four items for sale right now but I will keep adding more. I am at dianeoneilart.etsy.com. If you are new to etsy they sell handmade art, clothes, vintage items and art supplies. It is a cool site and it is easy to spend hours just looking at all of the thousands of items for sale. Addicting!

Patron

I am having a hard time getting going today. I exercised, showered, ate, now it time to get down to work. I need to order some supplies and I am hesitant to spend much money lately. I need a patron like Michelangelo had the Medicis to support him! Being an artist ain't cheap! I saw the fashion designer Rachel Roy on the Rachel Ray show today. She didn't go to school to be a fashion designer but she worked really hard and held onto her dreams. She didn't give up. I need some of the hutzpah today!
